Grilling with Rich: "Another Home Run"

BBQ expert Richard Wachtel got his hands on our new rub and couldn't say enough good things about it:

"Mitch and the gang have done it again. They have hit another home run in making the rub have multi layers and some great flavors. You start off with some sweetness and by the time the rub makes it to your throat you are hit with some nice spices that don’t over power you. It is a perfect addition to any sort of barbecue both on a competition level and also for just the backyard.”

After giving our original Meat Mitch BBQ Sauce the highest score it's ever given (9 out of 10), it was time for The Meatwave to try our Naked sauce. Sounds like they're glad they did:

"So can Meat Mitch claim the first 10? Not quite. In all honesty, I'm not really sure what a 10 will be, but I'll know it when I taste it. Still, this is pretty damn close to being perfect. The flavor was balanced, robust, and hit all the notes you want in a barbecue sauce. Then it performs outstandingly well on the grill, even better than the original, so I recommend forgoing the HFCS and going "Naked" when choosing between the two Meat Mitch sauces."

According to BBQ Sauce Reviews, "This sauce delivers on the promise of hitting your tastebuds WHOMP with something big and different. In this sauce, it’s vanilla extract. Who would have thought to add vanilla to BBQ Sauce? Meat Mitch did, and it’s great."

"It’s sweet, it’s thick, it’s gooey, and as the British would say, it’s brilliant. Be warned, for you traditionalists – it’s a little bit different. I knew it was a 5 when I got to the bottom, threw it out, and missed it the next day."

According to The Meatwave, "Meat Mitch Whomp! is one of the most well balanced, yet bold, barbecue sauces I've ever tasted—it was excellent out of the jar and performed like a true champion on the grill."

"With bold, but balanced flavors, I can't imagine anything this sauce wouldn't work well on. It would easily add a beautiful finishing glaze to ribs, give chicken the flavor it often lacks, and even stand up to heavyweights like brisket and steak."

"I really enjoyed both the WHOMP and also the Naked WHOMP Barbecue sauce. I really felt that I was trying sauce that was for very high standard competition barbecue teams. I also really enjoyed how once you tried the barbecue sauce you really felt the story and also the passion of barbecue in the taste of the sauce. I asked Mitch to describe his barbecue sauce in one sentence or less and he said to me that “Genie in a bottle, just rub it and all your wishes will come true!…”

Robert Moss, who hails from Charleston, says, "I may be a South Carolina boy, and I have a big plastic squeeze bottle of homemade mustard-based barbecue sauce in my refrigerator at all times – useful on everything from chopped pork to pickled okra. Still, I have a long standing fondness in my heart for Kansas City barbecue, and Meat Mitch's sauce is a little reminder that I need to get out west of the Mississippi very, very soon."
